4. THE JUSTICE40
INITIATIVE

Allocation of at least 40% of quantifiable project benefits to Disadvantaged Communities (DACs).

At Fedsprout, we understand that every organization has their own unique challenges and opportunities to address their community and organization needs. We develop customized Community Benefits Plans to maximize benefits and reduce negative impacts from technology development and deployment. Our 3-stage process ensures your CBP aligns seamlessly with your organization and the communities you serve, empowering you to make a tangible difference.

Step 1: Discover Opportunities

  • Identify gaps and opportunities in your existing community engagement practices, workforce development initiatives, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts.
  • Evaluate your current relationships with stakeholders and community organizations to maximize engagement and collaboration.
  • Understand the unique needs and challenges of disadvantaged communities (DACs) within your service area to tailor your approach accordingly.

Step 2: Design Your Plan

  • Develop a comprehensive Community Benefits Plan based on the insights gathered in Step 1.
  • Craft strategies to address identified gaps and opportunities, ensuring alignment with federal agency requirements and funding criteria.
  • Create measurable goals and milestones to track progress and impact, promoting accountability and transparency.

Step 3: Drive Continuous Improvement

  • Implement initiatives to enhance your Community Benefits Plan over time, responding to evolving needs and feedback.
  • Foster new partnerships and collaboration opportunities with labor organizations, non-profits, and community stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine your strategies to ensure effectiveness and maximize positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

Other Plans: Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research (PIER) Plans

Fedsprout supports businesses performing research and development to create both DEI and PIER plans.

A PIER Plan is your roadmap for Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Research. It outlines project-specific activities fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).

Fedsprout specializes in crafting PIER Plans that meet the evolving requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science (OS) and National Lab funding opportunities. Other DOE offices require a DEI plan to be submitted for research and development projects.
